Entrevista a Graveyard Bashers - Noviembre 2019

Hi, who are you Graveyard Bashers and what instruments do you play?

Graveyard Bashers consists of Lusse Punxwille (Upright bass / vocals), Panu de la Rocka (Guitar / vocals) and Johnny Bones (Drums / occasional baseball bat)

What is the musical genre of the group?

Psychobilly!!! There are many different kinds of psychobilly bands out there; we play the
more faster and aggressive style of psychobilly.

Why Graveyard Bashers as a name?

No hidden meaning or deep story behind that one, we thought that it sounded cool and perfect for us, it still does.

Where are you from?

Graveyard Bashers is based in Tampere, Finland. I always like to say that Tampere is the Psychobilly capital of Finland. If you live in Finland and you want to see some psychobilly gigs, they are usually either here in Tampere or a short drive away.

Junio 2019
When did you start playing like Graveyard Bashers?

We started out in the summer of 2016. Time flies, as it feels that we just started and we have already spent 3,5 years playing together! And I think that we have already accomplished a lot of cool things in our time together.
Do you have other parallel or do you played in other bands?

Lusse plays upright bass in a legendary Finnish rockabilly band called Rave On.
Me (Panu) and Lusse both have backgrounds in other genres of music too, metal bands etc.
But that’s long time ago.

Influences?

We try to do our own thing as much as possible, but listening to our music you can pretty
easily spot some influences from bands like Os Catalepticos, Sick Sick Sinners,
Banane Metalik and Demented are GO.

Are they your favorite bands?
Absolutely! I (Panu) got to see Os Catalepticos play live this summer at Psychobilly Meeting in Spain and it was everything I had hoped for, it was perfect! We like our psychobilly rough, fast and dirty.

Do you have something recorded? Tell us what you have. Are you going to record
something soon?

We released our debut album “Perverts on the Loose” back in 2017 and our EP “Where’s
Billy?” in January, this year. Both of those were originally self-released, CD and digital
only. Our brand new release is “Where’s Billy?” vinyl from Lycans Den Records.
We are in the process of making new material right now and the new songs are sounding
very good. We are in the early planning stage, but hopefully we will start making a new full
album next year, maybe release a single related to that.

What do your songs talk about?

All the good stuff: Sex, alcohol, swinging a baseball bat in the night, and you know, sex…
and alcohol too!

With whom and where have you played? Upcoming events of Graveyard Bashers?

So far, we have only played in Finland and we are looking to expand our territory hopefully in the near future. We have played some private gigs and some psychobilly events, this one time we even opened for Mad Sin. We are in early stages of planning some shows for next year.

Are here good bands in your environment?

We have a good community of Finnish psychobilly bands. We plan stuff together and arrange to play shows together whenever it’s possible. Just to name a few, Basementones, Wanton, Skidmarkz are great bands and always a pleasure to work with.

Thank you very much for trusting in Sesión de Plasma webzine, we can add what you
want or what we have forgotten.
