Interview con Surfistas No Muertos - Enero 2021

Hi, who are Surfistas No Muertos and what instruments do you play?

Surfistas No Muertos are:

Kloppstock (Guitar and Vocals)

Carlos C. (Drums)

What is the musical genre of the group?

It´s difficult to say :-) I would call it lo-fi Horrortrash or Horrorsurf with influences from Psychobilly and Oldschool-Punkrock. Many people would say: Retard Rock´Roll :-)

It sounds like some psychopaths made a concert in the basement of an asylum ;-) It´s ultra primitive and raw stuff. But I love it. Tunes from the trashcan!

Why Surfistas No Muertos as a name and for why in Spanish?

We decided to name the band in spanish because it sounds much better than in english or german. I really like the Spanish language. It sounds awesome and pretty cool.

Where are you from?

We are from the Ruhrgebiet Area in Germany, Carlos C. lives in Duisburg and I live near Dortmund.

When did you start playing like Surfistas No Muertos?

Only a few months ago. We started in September 2020. Because of COVID19 and the lockdown you only can meet one person here in Germany. And then we thought why not made a band with only 2 guys. Because of this damn pandemic we don´t see us very often. This year we only had our third rehearsal ever!

Do you have other parallel bands or do you play in other bands?

Yes, I also play in the Harcore-Punk Band „Manege frei“ and Carlos C. only project is Surfistas No Muertos.

Influences? (Musicals, literary, cinephiles, etc.)

Oh, that´s a good question! I have so many influences from music and old Horrormovies (The Universal Classic Monsters, Stephen King and 80-ies Movies).

I am a huge Horrorfan and I think you can get so many influences from there.

I really love Psychobilly, Surf, Gagagepunk, Horrorpunk and HC-Punk.

Carlos C. is more into Metal, Hard- and Punkrock, but he is also a big Horrorfan!

Are they your favorite bands?

Oh, there are so many. I am a large collector of underground music on vinyl, tape or CD.

But I think my all time favourite band is Demented Are Go.

Do you have something recorded? Tell us what you have. Are you going to record something soon?

Yes, at our second rehearsal we recorded a Demo tape called „Demo(n)“ by ourself. It was the first try to record some stuff by our own and it was pretty funny (we had a lot of drinks, haha). I released the Demo on tape via my own Label Kloppstock Records. It is a limited edition with 4 songs and only 50 copies are made. They are nearly sold out, I think I have 3 or 4 tapes left.

Last week we recorded the new EP „Ride the Coffin“ in our rehearsal room also by our own (and we have really absolutely no exprerience with recording). This one will be released this year via „Dirty Trash Fuck ´N Show Records“ from Tokyo, Japan (many greetings to Takashi) and my label. We will made a small edition of 100 pieces. It´s completely unbelievable for us that a guy from Japan like our stuff and wants to release it. That´s really awesome. We are very happy about this. You can find our Demo-Tape on bandcamp for free, also on spotify. The new EP gets online soon! And our brandnew song „Somthings knocking on my door“ you can also find on YouTube.

What do your songs talk about?

Horror, Trash, Psychopaths, Satan, Garlic-Pizzas and Alcohol

With whom and where have you played?

Cause of this fucking COVID19 shit we haven´t played any gigs until yet :-(

Upcoming events of Surfistas No Muertos?

Maybe in 2025, when everybody get´s vaccinated ;-)

But I really hope that 2021 will be a better year for the whole world.

Are there good bands in your environment?

So many. More Punkrock than Psychostuff, but really many good bands.

If you like two men trash combos, you must check out „Thee Twangjackets“. They come from Mannheim, it´s not from our area, but these guys are awesome.

Thank you very much for the interview Hektor! It´s pretty cool that someone listen to our stuff in Spain :-) Stay health and all the best!

Kloppstock
