Hi
Stas, you're the frontman of the Meantraitors since 30 years ago. How
do you feel about it? How was the experience all that time? Would you
change something?
Hola
Stas, has cumplido 30 años al frente de The Meantraitors. ¿Como te
sientes, como lo has vivido todo este tiempo, cambiarías algo?
Nothing
special, I'm a leader of my band for 30 years. I'm taking a whole
responsibility for all the mess. lol Frankly speaking, it wasn't
easy, but I'm fine with it, I'm the first fan of the thing we are
doing and I would not change much, perhaps, I'd wish myself to be
more clever during our first years.

especial, soy el líder de mi banda desde hace 30 años, soy
responsable de todo este lío... haha Francamente hablando no fue
fácil pero me gusta. Soy el fan número 1 de lo que hacemos y no
cambiaría nada de esto, aunque desearía haber sido más listo
durante nuestros primeros años.
¿Porque
remplazasteis el contrabajo por bajo eléctrico?
As
I told many times, after 2 successive albums my d-bassplayer and a
drummer desided to leave so as try themselves doing something else.
We had the best slapbassplayer in the world so I didn't want to turn
to a worse one. I decided to try it with the electric. Until nowdays
there are many people wishing us to go back to a slap, but I honestly
do not see the reasons to make it. Our sound is tougher and more true
with the electric. Period.
Como
he dicho muchas veces, después de 2 álbumes sucesivos mi
contrabajista y mi batería decidieron dejar la banda para hacer
otras cosas. Teníamos el mejor contrabajista del mundo y no quise
cambiarlo por otro peor, así que decidí probar con el bajo
electrico. Hasta dia de hoy hay mucha gente deseando que volvamos a
tocar con contrabajo pero sinceramente no veo razones para hacerlo.
Nuestro sonidos es más duro y auténtico en el periodo del bajo
eléctrico.
The Meantraitors was your first band or did
you play before in another bands? Have you ever played in another
band at the same time?
¿The
Meantraitors fue tu primera banda o habías tocado en otras bandas
anteriormente?. ¿Tocas o has tocado en
alguna otra banda al mismo tiempo?
I
never did anything but playing with The Meantraitors, the were just a
couple of recordings where I was asked to record guitar, but never
any other project.
Nunca
hice nada aparte de tocar en Meantraitors, hubieron un par de
grabaciones donde me pidieron que tocara la guitarra pero nunca
ningún otro proyecto.
Why did you call the band the Meantraitors?
Did you were the first psychobilly band in Russia? What other
interesting bands were around you when you started to play?
¿Porque
os pusisteis como nombre The Meantraitors?. ¿Fuisteis la primera
banda de Psychobilly de Russia?.¿Que otras bandas interesantes había
en tu entorno cuando empezaste a tocar?
I
just wanted to mean The Honest Heroes, might be! lol I just like the
meaning, I just like the sound of this band's name. Yes, we are the
first psychobilly band in Eastern Europe. We have a couple of more
bands. Bombers, Magnetix, Stressor are some of them.
Puede
que solo quisiera decir ''los héroes honestos" con este nombre
hahaha (es una broma). Simplemente me gusta el significado y como
suena el nombre de la banda y si, somos la primera banda que surgió
en el este de Europa. Tenemos algunas bandas más por aquí. Bombers,
Magnetix, Stressor son algunas de ellas.
¿Cuales eran tus influencias?. ¿Sigues escuchando lo
mismo a día de hoy?
I
like old Sin Alley sampler LP's, Johnny Burnette, The Meteors,
Krewmen, first Batmobile. Same time I really dig The Exploited, Oi in
general, hardcore bands like Terror, Mad Ball, some kinda metal like
Slayer, Slipknot. I basically hate all these bad psychobilly drummers
and always prefer heavier and better played rhythm-section. Did you
hear Anthrax version of Pipeline song? This is exactly what I like.
Me
gustan los viejos LPs recopilatorios de Sin Alleys, Johnny Burnette,
The Meteors, Krewmen, lo primero de Batmobile. Al mismo tiempo
también me gusta The Exploited, OI! en general, bandas de hardcore
como Terror, Madball, algo de metal como Slayer o Slipknot.
Básicamente odio todos esos baterías malos del psychobilly y
prefiero algo mas pesado y con una sección rítmica mejor tocada.
Has escuchado la versión de Pipeline hecha por Anthrax? Eso es
exactamente lo que me gusta.

You're
fan of the Exploited, band that in Sesion De Plasma we really like.
What means the Exploited for you? When did you start to listen to
them? When the Meantraitors played with them?
Eres
fan de The Exploited, banda que en Sesión de Plasma también nos
gusta mucho. ¿Que significan The Exploited para ti, cuando empezaste
a escucharlos y cuando fuisteis teloneros de ellos?
The
Exploited means damned a lot to me! They are 100% true and they
behaive so straight and so simple, while they are the best punk band
in the world. I listen to them since late 80's, we played together
lots of times, the last time we did in St.Petersburg in March.
Exploited
significa mucho para mi, son 100% auténticos y su actitud es muy
directa. Son la mejor banda de Punk del mundo. Los escucho desde
finales de los 80, hemos tocado juntos muchas veces la última vez
fue el pasado mes de marzo en San Petersburgo.
Recently the Meantraitors has released a new
album called Down With The Human. What can you tell us about it? Why
that name?
Recientemente
The Meantraitors habéis sacado un álbum titulado Down With The
Human. ¿Que nos puedes contar de ello?. ¿Porque ese titulo?.
This
is the album I gave all my strength to reach the highest possible
level, it took us more then 2 years to finish the recording. I really
like it. The reason of album's title is human beings destroy our
planet, the planet would not feel worse without the humans, Humans
are the only reason planet is going to be fucked. For over 6 years I
am a raw vegan as I don't want to abuse the animals.
En
este álbum he dado toda mi fuerza para alcanzar el punto más alto
posible, nos ha llevado 2 años terminar la grabación. Me gusta
mucho. El motivo del título de este álbum es que los humanos están
destruyendo el planeta... el mundo no estaría peor sin nosotros. Los
humanos son el único motivo por el que el planeta está jodido.
Desde hace 6 años soy raw vegan porque no quiero abusar de los
animales.
¿Hay
algun álbum anterior de The Meantraitors del que estas mas orgulloso
que del resto?, ¿porque?
I
like the latest album the most and I feel proud of it while Heavy
Boogie album from 2007 I also like a lot. These 2 albums are a
developed Psychobilly.
El
que mas me gusta es el último álbum y me siento muy orgulloso del
álbum Heavy Boogie del 2007. Esos dos álbumes han desarrollado el
psychobilly.
You made a Chinese tour. There were
psychobillys on the audience? Do you have many fans there? What would
you like to say about that tour?
Habéis
hecho una gira por China. ¿Había psychos entre el publico?.¿Tenéis
muchos fans por allí?. ¿Que te gustaría decir de esta gira?
We
used to tour China already twice. There are nearly no psycho's in the
crowd, however there are enough of people who belong to different
subcultures, chineese people are very friendly and they welcomed us
each place we have played our gigs, we saw a lot of different places,
different cities and clubs. I'm happy we have done it and I hope
we'll be back soon.
Ya
hemos hecho 2 giras en China. Prácticamente no habian psychos en el
público aunque había suficiente gente de diferentes subculturas. La
gente de China es muy amable y simpática y nos han recibido muy bien
en todos los lugares donde hemos tocado. Vimos muchos lugares,
diferentes, ciudades y muchos clubs. Estamos muy contentos de haber
tocado allí y esperamos volver a hacerlo pronto.
